What does an organization owe the community?
This month I would like to start by talking about social responsibility. At iLink Systems we believe that caring about those around us is an important part of who we are and what we do.
For example, as part of the inauguration day of our Offshore Development Center at the recently opened Elcot
IT Park in Trichy, Tamil Nadu, a team of 50 iLink employees, including teams from Chennai, US and Trichy, visited a village named Kayamapatti (Pudhukkottai, about 12kms south of Navalpattu) to participate in a string of CSR-oriented activities. iLink gave away about 120 saplings to as many households, educated them on creating manure from compost, the value of vermicomposting, spread awareness on the safe disposal of plastic waste, cleaned up the weeds in the area around their only school and also held a series of fun activities for school kids. Among other things, iLink also gave away a computer and installed three water filters in the school.
It’s not so much, when you think about it, to take the time to step out of our day-to-day lives and reach out to those around us who need help.
We try to bring this all-encompassing view into our business lives as well. Many people don’t realize that Gandhi was a businessman before he was a spiritual leader. He wrote much about the connection between those who offer services and those who need those services. One of my favorite quotes by him is:
“A customer is the most important visitor on our premises. He is not dependent on us; we are dependent on him. He is not an interruption in our work; he is the purpose of it. He is not an outsider in our business; he is a part of it. We are not doing him a favour by serving him; he is doing us a favour by giving us an opportunity to do so.”
We at iLink Systems have worked hard to integrate this concept into our every-day actions. This can be seen by our achieving the highest Microsoft Customer Satisfaction rating of any Gold partner in 2010 when we earned 193 points out of 200 (the partner earned average was 168). Customer service is truly our #1 priority, and we will proactively do our best to make sure you are taken care of properly.
Lastly, we have gathered some thoughts on the different technologies and interests which are important to iLink. Whether it’s earning a PMP certification or blogging about how technology is used on the big screen, these things are interesting to us and might be interesting to you as well.
